Wind Racers: Class of ’16 Researchers are given a set amount of play money which they must wisely budget in order to buy the materials necessary to build their racers. Researchers figure out how to put together the various systems of their racer using limited resources. Once a racer is “road worthy” researchers budget to perform test runs. Measurement is reviewed using the metric system. Researchers that have used their play money wisely can subtract from their final run times. Team work and inter-group collaboration is rewarded. Our first place racers. Well done Cezanne and Raphael! Our second place racers. Well done Zain and Pierre! Our third place racers. Awesome job Marc and Lucian! Our three winning teams. Dennis and Ivan use observation skills to figure out how the Scientific Method Stick works. After their initial observations, these young researchers hypothesize as to the inner workings of the “unknown” mechanism. Once they have tested various hypotheses, they then open up the Stick to verify if their final hypothesis was correct.
